We don’t often seek inspiration in commencement speeches (mainly because it’s impossible to stay awake through them), but we actually liked part of Google co-founder Larry’s Page’s recent speech at University of Michigan (his alma mater). It has a good, dare we say inspirational, message for entrepreneurs—particularly those of you who are dreaming big:
“I think it is often easier to make progress on mega-ambitious dreams. I know that sounds completely nuts. But, since no one else is crazy enough to do it, you have little competition.”
That’s certainly an argument in favor pushing forward with your business idea—no matter how ambitious it might seem. So next time someone suggests that your business plan is maybe, oh, a little over-the-top, just tell them that Larry Page says it’s cool.
